Sav-Mor Grocery Store

Hilbers Inc successfully delivered this design-build project for Sav-Mor Grocery Store in Gridley, CA, which featured a new 32,250-square-foot pre-manufactured metal building on a 2.34-acre site. The scope included extensive site development encompassing new sanitary sewer systems, storm drainage infrastructure, site lighting, underground electrical service, mass earthwork, and pavement. A significant challenge was the design and installation of a 19,000-gallon underground storm chamber system with 30-inch-tall chambers, meeting stringent local jurisdiction requirements for stormwater management. Coordinating this massive underground system alongside ongoing site work demanded meticulous daily schedule updates, adaptive planning, and continuous site meetings with subcontractors to ensure seamless progress and maintain a safe working environment. The project required close collaboration with both city and county authorities, with the county overseeing building code compliance and the city managing all site work, underground infrastructure, and planning approvals. Despite these complexities, Hilbers Inc completed the project on a tight 10-month schedule, delivering a fully compliant, state-of-the-art grocery store facility that supports the community’s needs.
